Tournament Format

All the 16 participating teams will be divided into four groups. First round of matches will be played in a round-robin fashion and top two teams from each group will get into quarter final round on the basis of highest points tally.

Each team will play one match against other teams in the group.

Bowling will take place from only one end.

Matches will partially be played during day time as well as under field lights.


All the captains are expected to let themselves and their team familiarize with the tournament rules before the tournament.


Fixtures

Sixteen (16) participating teams will be divided into 4 groups by draws.

First Round:
Round Robin. Top 2 teams will be placed into quarter final.
A1, B1, C1, D1, A2, B2, C2, D2

Quarter Final (Knockout):
A1 vs B2
B1 vs A2

C1 vs D2

D1 vs C2


Super Four(Round Robin)
There will be no Semi Finals. Pattern has been modified to include a concept of super 4. All the top four teams (winners of quarter finals) will play round robin games against each other. Top 2 teams will proceed to the finals. Four teams in this round will be regarded as WQ1, WQ2, WQ3, WQ4 i.e. Winners of four Quarter Finals.

Hence the Schedule in this round will be as follows:
1 - WQ1 vs WQ3
2 - WQ2 vs WQ4
3 - WQ3 vs WQ2
4 - WQ1 vs WQ4
5 - WQ1 vs WQ2
6 - WQ3 vs WQ4

All teams in Super Four round start fresh with zero points in the points table.

Point distribution system that was used during First Round will also be used for Super-4 round. Please see the heading "Point System" below.


Finals
Top TWO teams from the Super Four round will play a decisive Final match. Selection of top two teams will be from the points table.

In the event of multiple teams finishing off at the second spot in Super-4 round, the right to play in the final match will be determined as described in the heading "Determination of Top Winners From Points Table" below.

Point Distribution

  • Winner -- 2 Points + Bonus Points
  • Loser --   0 Point + Bonus Points
  • Tie -- 1 Point each + Bonus Points
  • Drawn -- 1 Point each, NO bonus Points


Bonus Point Rule:

     These rules will apply for the Round Robin matches Only.

            Rule # 1 --
Any team scoring 100 or more runs in a match(1 Bonus Point)

   Rule # 2 -- Winning Team's margin of victory is 30 runs or more (1 Bonus Point)
 
  Rule # 3 -- Team achieving the target within 5.3 overs (1 Bonus Point)

   Rule # 4 -- Team BOWLING (ALL) OUT opposition at a score of 50 or less while fielding first (1 Bonus Point)

 


Determination of Top Winners From Points Table:

In the event of two or more teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in   the quarter final(s) will be determined in following sequence:

1  Team with most number of wins.
2  The team with the win against the other team in that group.

3  The team with highest number of bonus points.

4  Team with highest (NRR) Net Run Rate.



Dress Code

No specific attire is required as such. We want all the players to dress modestly. No shorts above knees are allowed. Players are required to wear the T-shirts provided by the organizers during the match. No Shalwar Kameez, sleeveless T-shirts allowed.

 

Punctuality

Both the teams, especially captains have to be present for the toss 10 minutes before the scheduled time. The playing team will forfeit the toss if its captain is not available on time. If the whole team is not present until 5 minutes before the start of the game then the opposite team will be given a walkover.

If both the captains do not turn up within 15 minutes after the scheduled time, the match will not be played and no points will be awarded to either of the teams. In such case, the game could be reduced to lesser number of over(s) than specified OR the next match in the schedule will start, with the sole discretion of the match referee, by taking into consideration all the reasons. 
Any deliberate delay in the start will result in the responsible team being penalized over(s).

 

The two teams for the next game in the schedule should be ready to play. Organizers will request each team captain to have their side ready to take the field as soon as the current game is completed. The match will not be held up because of the absence of any player of either side.


Each innings must finish within 35 minutes of given time. Captains should make sure that his bowlers bowl all the overs in the stipulated time, without wasting time. Umpire has the right to penalize the defaulter team by reducing the number of overs equivalent to the duration of extra time being used.

There will be a 5 minute turnaround time between innings. All the players should be available and ready to take field as soon as possible.

Rules

 

All the teams will be asked to submit a list of nominated 10 or 15 (If extras) players before the start of the game. Each team must choose playing 10 players from the Nominated 15 players. No teams shall play with a non-nominated player. No excuses will be entertained to change any player under any circumstances once all 15 players are nominated and actual tournament starts. Last minute non-nominated player change (although not allowed but will need committee approval) and will accrue additional fees.

In case of injuries or lawful circumstances to a nominated player resulting in his absence and his team needing a non-nominated player, the team must first approach the match referee. The referee will then decide after consulting both the playing captains in that match, for approval of any such request.

Transfer of a Nominated player between the teams is not allowed.

 

Each playing team will have 10 nominated players.

 

Each Innings in a match will be of 8 Overs each. Each bowler can bowl a maximum of 2 overs.

Each Innings in Final match will be of 10 Overs each.Only two bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs making it in the format: 3 + 3 + 2 + 2.

 

One match adjudicator (Referee), appointed by the organizers shall be in charge of each match. His decision on any disagreement or dissention shall be absolutely final.


Byes are allowed

No Leg Byes
No LBWs


There are runs for Wide(s), NO Ball(s), byes and over-throws.

One run will be given for each NO ball plus the runs scored (if any) on that ball. Free hit will be awarded to batting side for front foot no-balls.


One run will be given for each WIDE ball plus the runs scored as byes (if any) on that ball.

Every full toss (Beamer) upto the waist height or above will be a no ball. Bowler delivering 2 beamers in an over could be replaced by another bowler to complete the over. Umpire might not allow such bowler to bowl again.

 

Any ball which, after leaving the bowlers hand and after bouncing, passes the batsman above SHOULDER height in his normal stance, or would have passed him above SHOULDER height if it strikes the batsmans bat or body, shall be called a NO BALL by either umpire.

Any ball passing over the head of the batsman is a no-ball.

Any ball which, having not bounced after leaving the bowlers hand, passes the batsman above SHOULDER height, or would have passed him above SHOULDER height, shall be called a NO BALL by either umpire. It really doesnt matters if it had struck the batman's bat or body or not. Every ball above SHOULDER height is a no ball.

If the batsman is out of the crease, a ball above the SHOULDER cannot be called a no ball.

Bowlers foot completely outside the crease at non striker end will be called a no ball


The teams are required to arrange for their own bats. They can borrow them from another team also. The organizers are not responsible for making bats available.

There should be one wicket keeper behind the wickets at all times.

If the Wicketkeeper is more than 9 metres OR 29.53 feet away from the stumps at the strikers end, at the instance of the delivery, NO BALL shall be called by either umpire.

Under-arm, Chucking, Jerk, Throw bowling is strictly prohibited. Either of the umpires, on observation might or might not give a warning before giving every such bowls as no-ball.

If batsman is not satisfied with the condition of the tape ball, he might request a new ball with umpires approval.

No fowl or bad language will be entertained. The player caught with such behavior would be charged a fine of min of $10 and might be eliminated from the tournament.

Captain of each team is responsible to control the behavior of the players of his team. Only captain will be representing and acting on behalf of his team in case of disputes. However, its captains duty not to entertain/raise any such dispute and respect the umpires decisions.

The organizers will supply taped cricket balls. Every bowling side will get a newly taped tennis ball at the beginning of the innings. The decision to re-tape the ball or to provide a newly taped ball at any stage of the innings is with the umpires.  Tampering with the tape is prohibited and umpires could take action if the bowler or his team is found tampering with the tape.

There is no restriction on the field placing except that no players are allowed to stand straight behind the bowling side or behind the wicket keeper. In such event, umpire will call a NO ball.

In the event of bad weather, game shall be rescheduled. If there isn't enough time to accommodate the time change, the game would be considered a tie, and 1 point would be awarded to each team.

Fielders and bowlers are prohibited from shouting anything from the instant the bowler starts the bowling stride to the instant the ball is either played or crosses the normal batting position of the batsmen, to avoid any kind of bad remarks or hooting.


Normally,
a maximum of one substitute fielder is allowed. However, more than one substitute fielder can be appointed, with the approval of the opposing captain and the umpire.

Our
official scoring team will be scoring in every game. The scorers will score independently and keep tallying at the end of every over. If the teams are interested in any other statistics, they should keep track of those themselves. The teams cannot influence the scores kept by our official scoring team.

Captain of the team at any point of time can retire a batsman. The retired batsman could be called to bat again ONLY after 2 overs have been completed from the instance he was retired or one wicket has been fallen after that.

Game shall be halted during the prayer times or during regular programs in the masjid. We request all (Muslim) players to attend regular prayers in the masjid. Each Captain is encouraged to remind his team members to participate in the Salaat(Namaz).

Smoking will be allowed ONLY in a designated area on the ground.

In the event of rain, umpires/organizers will re-schedule the matches that are affected due to rain. Matches scheduled on other days will be played as is and no changes will be made to pre-scheduled matches due to re-scheduling. 

If a match is being played and it starts raining, match will be halted to see the conditions. If play is impossible for that day, match will be rescheduled for any other day. A match will be continue from the point it was left ONLY when first inning's 6 overs were already had been bowled. Complete match will be replayed otherwise.


Umpires/Referees

A panel of neutral umpires will adjudicate each game. The organizers will provide a panel of umpires.

The umpire will have a pool of balls in good condition. Bowlers will be given another ball ONLY by the umpire if retrieval of the previous ball would waste time (case: long shot).

Umpires are the final authority during the game. Their decisions are final and bound to the playing teams and cant be challenged. They will remain impartial at all times on the field.

Umpires will keep time of all breaks, and notify the captains as to when to resume.

Decisions by the umpires on the field, and the referees, in other matters are final. Any player showing unreasonable dissent in the opinion of the umpires/adjudicator/referee shall be disqualified from the tournament.
